Amy H – Early Years Worker
In 2016, Amy began volunteering with PEEK. She loved feeling part of an organisation that had helped her as a child in so many ways, such as her confidence, making friends and helping her feel part of the community. PEEK helped Amy realise her passion for working with children and wanting to make a difference. Amy pursued this passion by applying to college for a HND in childcare, due to Covid-19 unfortunately the course was online, so she struggled to stay engaged and dropped out shortly after to do an apprenticeship instead. However, this was the best decision Amy ever made.
Through Amy’s apprenticeship, she got to work with children of all ages and abilities to support their needs. She loved learning more about what practitioners can do to support children to help them thrive. Amy gained her SVQ level 3 in social services Children and Young People which has now led to being an Early Years Worker at PEEK.
Amy says, “At PEEK I hope to achieve an environment where every family feels welcomed and safe. I hope to support children and their families no matter their background or needs and make a positive difference. I want to provide children with various opportunities to learn and explore where this may otherwise not be possible”.
