PEEK provides 742 Jackets to Children and Young People
In a year filled with challenges, increasing prices and inflation, #TEAMPEEK stepped up in extraordinary ways to support our mission and families. Through dedication and passion, our team ensured our communities were supported when they needed it most.
This winter marked the launch of the seventh year of our #WinterWarmer Appeal with Hub West Scotland, joined by Landsec at Buchanan Galleries. Thanks to your generosity and the power of collaboration, we delivered 742 jackets, 150 pairs of shoes, and 2,204 gifts to children and young people across Glasgow. Now, PEEK will continue to be there for families into the New Year and beyond.
Our CEO, Nancy Clunie said: “PEEK are incredibly grateful to have received support from so many businesses, groups and individuals as part of this year’s Winter Warmer campaign. Having essentials like warm clothing means that children and young people can continue to walk to school and play outside throughout the cold winter months. We have also been in a position to provide families with extra warm items like hats and scarves, as well as presents to open over the festive period. With the support of our amazing partners and the public, we’re making a big difference to the lives of families across Glasgow this winter.”
Here’s what we and our incredible supporters accomplished together:
23 families received direct support through our partner Save the Children Scotland, with each family receiving £200 for food, fuel, clothing, and essentials, totalling £4,600.
85 families received food vouchers, Amazon vouchers and cinema vouchers totalling around £2,265.
100 children and young people received a £50 voucher from Cash for Kids totalling £5,000.
117 young people enjoyed festive outings, including trips to the cinema, ice skating, bowling, Flip Out, dinners, and Christmas markets thanks to Cash for Kids.
41 children enjoyed a festive Christmas party.
