Donate to kids in Glasgow? PEEK’s Winter Warmer Appeal 2024

by 24th October 2024

This winter, we’re proud to announce our annual Winter Warmer Appeal, in partnership with Hub West Scotland and Landsec at Buchanan Galleries. This campaign aims to provide essential warm clothing to PEEK families in Glasgow, ensuring that all children can stay warm this winter, even when playing outdoors.

As the winter months approach, the stark reality for many children is that they are unable to enjoy outdoor play, not by choice, but because they lack the essential jackets, and wellie boots necessary to brave the cold. The lack of warm clothing not only limits their ability to engage in play but also affects their physical and social development. PEEK is committed to changing this narrative, ensuring that children can stay warm and active, even in the chilliest of conditions.

The current cost of living crisis has placed immense pressure on families, making it increasingly difficult to afford necessities, including winter clothing, essential wellbeing products and food. Many families find themselves in the difficult position of having to choose between heating their homes and providing their children with the clothing they need to stay warm and safe.

PEEK is dedicated to supporting families affected by poverty, and improving their life chances. We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to play and explore, regardless of the weather conditions.

Having the right clothing makes such a difference to the children we work with; it allows them to enjoy the magic of jumping in puddles and possibly play in the snow as well as attend school in the long cold winter months.

PEEK is proud to be working in partnership again with HubWest Scotland for the 7th year running to provide new warm winter jackets and wellies to over 1000 of our city’s most vulnerable children and young people experiencing poverty. Over the last 7 years we have been overwhelmed with the kindness and generosity of the general public who have supported the Winter Warmer Appeal and we are committed to doing all that we can to reach more children and young people this Winter.” – Michaela Collins, MBE, Chief Executive of PEEK.

Iain Marley, Chief Executive of hub West Scotland said, “Once again, we are reaching out to partners and others that are able to support the Winter Warmer Appeal on behalf of PEEK and the communities that need our help.

This is the seventh year of the appeal and it coincides with an even greater scale of challenges facing those in need.  Every contribution makes a huge difference to children and families in our communities so we ask that organisations and people are as generous as you can afford to be”.

PEEK will continue to support families impacted by poverty and help them to improve life chances. You can make a difference too. If you’re able to support our efforts, please see below for how you can help keep our community warm this winter.
