£9,333 raised by volunteers during Scotland’s Virtual Kiltwalk

by 29th April 2021

The Kiltwalk is Scotland’s biggest charity walk and this year it took place virtually on the weekend of the 23rd – 25th April. This year we had over 30 walkers set themselves a virtual challenge, here is just some of their stories:

“Myself and Morgan are so pleased to be able to support peek by doing the kilt walk for them this year, they have helped us and so many other families throughout the pandemic and we want peek to be able to keep helping and making a real difference out there in the community where it is needed.” – Claire.

“I am a proud Board Member and #TEAMPEEK stoater! To raise money for PEEK I will be taking part in the Virtual Kiltwalk Event (23-25th April) by walking 26 miles. Having taken part in a few Kiltwalk events I am glad this years event can be split over 2 days as I am now walking with bump and will be almost 30 weeks pregnant by the point – Yikes! PEEK are such an amazing charity working to support children and families across Glasgow. The team have worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic to support families with food, essential items and anything they need to get them through the crisis.” – Marie.

“It’s no secret that I love PEEK because of what they achieve for kids, families and communities across Glasgow.
They create safe, creative and fun spaces for children to thrive. What’s even more inspiring is that they foster leadership, many of the children who have attended as children now manage, lead and direct the charity. During the pandemic they really flexed to show how dynamic the charity is in meeting the needs of the community. No one understands their community more. They sprang into action delivering hot food, providing activity packs and supporting families who were shielding. So on Saturday I’m walking 26 miles to raise some funds so to show my appreciation for all the work PEEK do.” – Victoria.

We managed to raise a staggering £6,222 with a 50% top up from The Hunter Foundation taking our total to £9,333.

£305 of this money was donated from Parkhead Nursey.

PEEK thank all those who supported us and donated to our walkers. All monies raised will go directly towards children and young people’s activities, excursions and of course possibilities.
